Job Description

Central MN Renewables is hiring for an Operations Technician!

Job purpose:
Conducts all tasks associated with the production of Butanol Acetone.

Plant Monitoring (50%)- Ensures safe operations of plant tasks:

  • Provides continuous monitoring of computer control system as required
  • Interprets data and makes minor adjustments and relays information from monitoring process to Shift Supervisor
  • Records specific data from computer control systems
  • Performs necessary tasks to keep plant operational
  • Stays knowledgeable and informed about hazardous material used in the plant processes
  • Must keep plant clean at all times
Field Work (50%)- Performs work as required outside of plant monitoring:
  • Able to set up and run lab tests as needed
  • Adds chemicals/ingredients at various points through the process
  • Takes PH samples to ensure ingredients are at Butanol Acetone standards according to specifications
  • Relays information to Shift Supervisor and enters required data into computer
  • Loads distilled grain as needed onto conveyer belt
  • Ability to run a forklift to move pallets, skid steer for wet cake and snow removal and/or tractor
  • Performs necessary tasks to keep plant operational
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Moderate level computer skills
  • Ability to read and interpret lab procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information to Shift Supervisor
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions 
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • This position works on a rotating shift schedule 
  • Employee is regularly required to sit
  •  Frequently required to stand, walk, talk or hear
  • Use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and taste or smell
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must have specific vision capabilities: close vision, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, confined spaces, wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, toxic or caustic chemicals; and outside weather conditions 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
